MORE PROBLEMS AHEAD FOR MADAGASCAR
Andry Rajoelina’s seemingly dramatic announcement on 14 May that he would not contest the upcoming elections in Madagascar does in no way resolve the underlying problems confronting the future of the island state. His unilateral exposition of the so-called “election road map” and his refusal to grant amnesty to his political opponents means the political deadlock continues to bedevil Madagascar.
