During the past weeks President Jacob Zuma has made his first important political interventions. Not only did he and the ANC appoint new premiers, but he also announced a new cabinet &ndash one that differs significantly from the Mbeki and Motlanthe cabinets.
During the breakfast briefing, a number of issues will be addressed of interest to both the business and diplomatic communities:
- An assessment of the recently announced appointments, as well as the implications for ANC cohesion and focus
- The role of the new National Planning Commission
- What will be the role of the ANC&rsquos leftist allies in the new government?
- The possible impact on South African foreign policy, as well as defence policy
- The economic direction the new government is likely to take
